The first task was to guess the gender, age and social status of the owners of the shoes. In the second part of the experiment, the volunteers had to assume whether the owner is introverted or extroverted, liberal or conservative, what is his emotional stability if he is peaceful and open.
Of course, some characteristics were easier to guess. Like what gender is the owner for example. Expensive shoes do tend to be a sign of high social status. The colored and shoes with unusual forms probably belong to extroverts.
Other less obvious signs are that comfortable shoes are chosen by friendly people. Ankle boots buy the more aggressive ones and the calm people wear less comfortable shoes. The most accurate results were about the signs – gender, age, income and emotional stability.
An interesting fact is that people, who worry about their relationship, often buy new shoes or keep them in perfect condition. This is explained by the fact that they want to have perfect appearance because they worry a lot about what others think of them. Normally, people type “hippies” wear worn or very cheap shoes.
